A four piece reggae-punk band originating from East London, The Skints are making big waves in the underground scene. After only two years together, the band are already pulling in big crowds after supporting The Voodoo Glow Skulls and most recently Sonic Boom Six on their tours of England.

Drawing  influences from bands such as Bad Brains, Operation Ivy and Bob Marley, The Skints find a happy medium between reggae and punk with chilled out reggae beats evolving into ‘3 chord punk’ at the chorus. Although this may not sound appealing at first, you can appreciate where the music is heading. Third wave Ska-punk is finally breaking out from under the wings of death metal which has dominated the local music scenes for the past two years.

With the soulful voice of Jamie Kyriakides on drums and Marcia Richards on lead vocals, The Skints definitely bring something new and fresh to the table. Songs such as ‘Ya Know’ and ‘Murderer’ show the maturity of this exciting and happy band.  Josh Waters Rudge offers something different with his vocals which can be seen on ‘Contemplations of a Modern Rudeboy’. His more rash vocals complement Kyriakides and Richards perfectly. ‘Contemplations of a Modern Rudeboy’ is set to be the first single released off of their debut album ‘Live Breathe Build Believe’ and I for one cannot wait. So keep your eyes peeled and your ears on end!
